Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib today met with officials from PHE and Konkan Railways Corporation Limited to discuss depletion of water sources and damage to existing schemes of PHE and Irrigation departments due to works being carried out by the KRCL, and the management thereof. Additional District Development Commissioner, Ramesh Chander was also part of the meeting.

In the meeting, a list of areas where water sources have depleted, due to laying of railway line, was also presented to the DC and thorough discussion was held so as how to either replenish or supplement the water supply in those areas. It is pertinent to mention that supply of water for both, drinking as well as irrigation purposes has been affected.

Tapping of new as well as restoring existing water sources was also proposed in the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner also suggested sourcing expert advice of Geologists to better deal with the problem.

It was decided that Joint Verification Teams would also be set up to assess the extent of damage to water sources and pumping stations. The teams would consist of representatives from all, the KRCL the Irrigation and the PHE department.

Among others, those present at the meeting also included Tehsildar HQ, Kunal Sharma; Naib Tehsildar, Gulair Singh; Bilal Ahmad, AD (P&S); Sujay Kumar, DyCE/T KRCL; Nalinakshan P, DyCE/HQ KRCL, AEEs from PHE and Irrigation department.
